The Alliance,
formerly known as the
Birmingham Civic Association, began almost twenty years ago with a small group of people interested in becoming more proactively involved in community issues. In 1997, the Alliance more formally organized to focus on appropriate land use in Northwest Fulton County. Since that beginning, the Alliance has grown not only in membership, but also in influence and purpose.

The area served by the Alliance is a rural, low-density residential/equestrian/farming area with over 5000 registered voters made up of multi-generational residents and more recent community members. Open greenspace, historic buildings, cemeteries including Cherokee Indian burial mounds, old churches and the Little River Valley are part of the fabric of this community.
